Gear Racing And The Florida Chamber Safety Council Look Forward To Racing In Florida Again

GEAR Racing will return to Florida for its first two races of the revised 2020 season.

The GEAR Racing Team is looking forward to the revised 2020 IMSA schedule after a break from racing due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Racing is set to return at Daytona International Speedway on July 4th, followed by Sebring International Raceway on July 18th. Races will broadcast live on NBC Sports.

“As the state of Florida is beginning to reopen, we couldn’t be happier to continue our partnership with The Florida Chamber Safety Council,” says Brian Wilson, GEAR’s Director of Business Development.

The Florida Chamber Safety Council is committed to the health and safety of employees throughout the state of Florida. “We are pleased to have a partner that is dedicated to safety in the workplace and the precautions of going back to work on the racetrack,” says Wilson.

GEAR Racing driver Katherine Legge says, “Safety is at the forefront of racing. It is an inherently dangerous sport, not only for the drivers but also for the crews and spectators. We diligently try to minimize the risks to everyone and everything. I’m proud to be part of that and have a hearty respect for the dangers associated with my passion.”

Just as The Florida Chamber Safety Council supports GEAR Racing’s mission, GEAR is a perfect example of the Safety Councils’ initiatives. As an ongoing push for the Safety Council to provide the very best in safety training and procedures for Florida’s businesses, a Safety Tour was scheduled at the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 21st. The goal of the tour was to showcase the great lengths that motorsports go through to ensure safety in the workplace.

A number of Florida based companies committed to the health and safety of their employees, including Disney, Coca Cola, Advent Health, Waste Pro, Sea World, and Pike Electric were scheduled to attend the behind the scenes Safety Tour. A number of other Florida companies including Florida Power & Light took early health and safety precautions to social distance their employees and will be in attendance when it is safe to do so.

The GEAR Racing Team is looking forward to the Sebring Safety Tour, which has been rescheduled for November 14th as well as additional Safety Tour’s at other racing venues throughout the season. GEAR is ready to go back to racing, just as Florida is open for business and growing jobs again.
